Project Scope
Moomba, an oil and gas mining camp in SA, is more than an hour flight away from Adelaide. The Epoxy Adelaide team flew out and stayed on site for a week to repair and recover the camp’s old kitchen floor with epoxy.
The OHS Officer of the mine site decided it was time to make the area safer for the workers since the old worn down floor has lost some of it’s traction and there was some increased risk of slipping when the floor was wet.
The total floor area we had to restore during this time measured 45 square metres and as this is a live site with workers and staff it was important to cause no unexpected interruptions to the kitchen and surrounding area. Therefore, the right preparation and planning was completed with the management prior to our arrival and throughout the project.
We started off with a deep clean of the old floor and a degreasing process as this was a well used and older kitchen area. Restoring the condition of the flooring before completing any work is critical so that the new epoxy floor will bond perfectly to the degreased and grinded back surface.
We applied the high build anti slip epoxy flooring using the colour ‘bridge grey’ to match the rest of the kitchen (plus it’s a neutral colour and easy to keep clean visually).
The new flooring will be resilient enough to cope with the demanding kitchen environment. With proper care and maintenance, it will last for many years.
Epoxy is an extremely strong and versatile flooring option, It can be used in commercial settings as well as residential projects like garage floors and front porches just to name two.
